- A wireless router is a device that performs the functions of a router and also includes the functions of wireless access point.
Applications:
- Routers may provide connectivity between enterprise and network.
- Large routers interconnect various ISPs used in large enterprise networks.
- Small routers are used for internet connectivity in home and office networks.
History:
- Setup in 1972 as an informal group to consider the technical issues involved in connecting different networks.
