- Proximity is the place where items are placed in relation to each other.
- Objects belongs to same category are placed at the same place is called proximity.
- Ex: All birds of same type form one group.
- There are four types of proximity relationships.
1.Close edge:
- The items look like a group.
2.Touch:
- When the items get close enough they touch.
3.Overlap:
- The strongest gestalt happens between two items when they overlap with each other.
4.Combine:
- It is possible to group various items together by using an external element that acts to combine the items.
- In the above picture line is the external element to combine the letters.
