Morse code

  • Morse code is a method of sending text message by keeping in a series of electronic pulses, usually represented as a short pulse (called as "dot") and long pulse (as "dash").
  • It is the first invention to effectively exploit electromagnetism for long-distance communication.
  • The most often used letters in English like E and T are represented by a single dot and single dash respectively.
  • The least frequently used letters like J and Y, numbers and punctuation marks are given longer and more complex representation.
  • No difference was made for uppercase and lowercase letters.
Key used for Morse code
    • Morse code offers a slow but reliable means of transmitting and receiving wireless text message through conditions involving noise, fading or interference.
    • This is primary because its simple binary code ( key down or key up) allows for an extremely narrow band width.
    • In addition human ear and brain make a remarkably good digital receiving device.
    • Now a days, Morse is used  to limited extend by amateur radio operators, landline telegraphs and military radio operators.
